Sempre peggio...

I was thrilled to hear that Paramount moved the date of release to August 10 2007. Which means we're no longer up against the Simpsons Movie etc.

And Ben Barnes, who plays young Dunstan Thorne (and is thus, apart from Ian McKellen, the first speaking part in the film) was just cast as Prince Caspian.

Finalmente!! Me ne accorgo per caso (andando a vedere su BadTaste) che è uscito il trailer.
Ovviamente dalla mailing list di aggiornamento ufficiale del sito, neanche una notizia da mesi.

Ecco QUI il trailer.
Che ve ne pare? A me sembra fantastico, eccitante, divertente, meraviglioso!!

L'unica cosa che veramente non capisco è come diavolo hanno conciato Clare Danes per farla così brutta!! E proprio il suo personaggio, poi...

E una cosa: voglio vederlo in inglese!! Troppe belle le voci di tutti, non me lo voglio rovinare!!

Qui c'è un trailer leggermente più lungo del precedente, si intravedono altre scene e personaggi.

Ho letto un post simpatico e ben scritto di Neil Gaiman che spiega la scelta del trailer, tra i tanti proposti, e che parla anche dei trailer in generale.
Mi sono ritrovata molto nelle sue parole. Ve lo posto qui di seguito, poi se riesco lo traduco.

Trailer talk
A couple of people have written in to ask about the Stardust trailer, including someone who had seen footage from Stardust at San Diego and wrote to ask if the film would be more like the footage he saw or more like the trailer. (Answer: More like the footage, of course.) Somebody wrote asking if I dared explain why Tristran's hair gets longer in the trailer and then mysteriously shorter again at the end of the trailer. (Answer:....Er, do I really have to explain that scenes from a trailer aren't always in the order they appear in in the film?)

I like the trailer. I've been shown a lot of other trailers for Stardust in the last six months, and was astonished to see how much they varied and the impression they seemed to give, and I realised how close the recut trailers for The Shining and The Parent Trap and Mary Poppins were to the truth. Trailers and films only bear a tangential relationship to each other. (Take a look at the three links above if you doubt this.)

In November I saw, for example, one trailer for Stardust that gave the impression it was a film about three witches on their quest to become young again. I saw one trailer that didn't seem to be about anything, but still left you feeling like you'd seen (and not enjoyed) the whole movie, which wasn't any movie that had ever been made. There was even a trailer that gave the impression that this was a film all about Tristran's quest to discover the riddle of his birth, which he solved by becoming a sky-pirate.

The current trailer, the one you can see right now on yahoo movies, is aimed at people who have never heard of Stardust, and it gives you the set-up (he's going to cross the wall to bring back a fallen star for the girl he's in love with) and what happens next (the star is actually a girl) and a sense that After That Lots of Stuff Happens. That the trailer-makers constructed the trailer in question by assembling and juxtaposing footage from one place and putting it beside another (at one point a scene that you think you're seeing is made by splicing together two events almost twenty years apart), editorially creating dialogue (including actually changing words or putting different dialogue on scenes) and so on, is perfectly par for the course in trailer-building. That they went with the sword-fightingy bits and a lot of running around rather than the love story for the Stuff Happens is fair enough -- you only have two minutes, after all.

What I hope we'll get soon is some actual scenes over at http://www.stardustmovie.com/site.htm and that will give more of a sense of how the story feels and is actually edited.

Giusto per dare seguito a quanto ho raccontato alla Yavincon su questo attesissimo film, vi riporto qualche notizia.

Intanto che il sito ufficiale è stato finalmente aggiornato (era ora!!), e potete vedere lì il trailer più lungo in circolazione:

Si vedono, rispetto all'altra in hi-res, anche dei fantasmi.

La data di uscita viene annunciata per (sigh) il 19 ottobre 2007. Questo vuol dire che probabilmente, come temevamo, da noi non vedrà le sale prima di Natale. Speriamo proprio che esca per quelle date, visto che non ci sono in uscita altre pellicole fantasy.
Nonostante questo, nei wallpapers scaricabili dal sito, la data di rilascio è ancora il 10 agosto. Boh.

Infine, prime recensioni degli addetti ai lavori. Charles Vess, illustratore del libro di Gaiman, scrive sul suo blog qualcosa del genere:
"Ero nervosissimo prima della visione. E se avessero stravolto il "mio" film? E se la gente si fosse alzata per lasciare la sala? Invece, non appena sono iniziate le immagini, mi sono rasserenato. E durante le due ore seguenti, tutto ciò che potevo volere era lì: azione, humor, storia d'amore, un tocco di horror, effetti speciali al servizio della storia che viene raccontata, un obiettivo epico assieme a molti magnifici momenti di silenziosa intimità."

Direi che possiamo aspettarci un gran bel film, quanto meno. Che ne pensate?

La scelta della distribuzione natalizia mi sembra molto plausibile e non vedo l'ora di vederlo!
Ho seguito una bella tavola rotonda alla yavincon dove se ne parlava e anche se la ragazza che ne discuteva non era particolarmente simpatica e nemmeno tanto preparata è riuscita ad intrigarmi!!!!!!!
